* A Midsummer Night's Dream - William Shakeaspeare - performed in London in 1662.
"The most stupid ridiculous play that I ever saw in my life."
- Samuel Pepys, Diary.

* Gulliver's Travels - Jonathan Swift - 1726.

* Madame Bovary - Gustave Flaubert - 1857.

- Le Figaro.

* Anna Karenina - Leo Tolstoy - 1877.
"Sentimental Rubbish"
- The Odessa Courier.

* The Great Gatsby - F. Scott Fitzgerald - 1925.
"What has never been alive cannot very well go on living. So this is a book of the season only."
- New York Herald Tribune.

* Catch-22 - Joseph Heller - 1961.
"Heller wallows in his own laughter... and the sort of antic behaviour the children fall into when they know they are losing our attention."
- Whitey Balliett, New Yorker.

So, whatever you do, don't be disheartened if you receive harsh comments. Everyone has their own opinion, and everyone is different :) Learn to take it on the chin and move on!

Yea I can understand that...I guess it really depends on who reads it...I flipped through the pages b4 buying it, and knew it wasn't my cup of tea...I did like Gulliver's Travel though...read it long time ago...Hmmm maybe I should read it again hehe

First of all, HAPPY WORLD BOOK DAY EVERYONE!! :) Let's spread the joy of reading, not only today, but every other day by sharing great reads with your friends and family, also, if you have too many on your shelves, give them to those in need...I came across this on guardian.co.uk and thought that I'd share it with you... "With or without TV debates, most thoughts at present in the UK are turning to the choice we will make in the forthcoming general election. However, the stark fact is that very many people in the UK will not be a part of that process; not because they don't want to necessarily, but because they lack the most basic skills to do so.
